The flourishing of new interpretation of traditional Danish song takes another
step forward with quintet Zar’s second CD. Swingy, inventive arrangements of
songs and instrumentals, trad and new-writ, for fiddles, piano, frets, double
bass (Steffan Søgaard Sørensen’s playing of the latter particularly rich and
fluent), and singer Sine Lauritsen, who won 2004’s “Danish Folk Vocalist” award
for her work on this album.
