VILDDAS
Vilddas
Wood Productions WOOD 024 (2000)
Finnish four-piece combining songs in Sámi and some joiking with Arabic
influenced accompaniments on ud, ney, clarinet, keyboards and percussion.
Annukka Hirvasvuopio’s singing is light non-joik, and when she or Marko Jouste
joiks it seems more learned style than deep personal expression. A well-made
debut, though, heading in an interesting direction.
