Ääniä AANIA-11 (2009)
Inhabiting a dark, intimate, lugubrious old Finnish world of dry voices and
scraping jouhikko, as far from world-beat as were Joseph Taylor or Väinämöinen,
Sväng’s Eero Turkka shows his intense vocal side in traditional songs, with
churning, veiled sounds on mandolin, bouzouki, kantele, melodeon, piano and
harmonium from Riku Kettunen, Olli Varis and Antti Paalanen.
