SZVORÁK KATI
Jelenti Magát Jézus - Hungarian Folk Hymns
Rep 007 (1997)
Kati Szvorák is a splendid, serene-voiced singer, with that special Hungarian
stillness. Válaszúton, featuring traditional Hungarian and Moldovan
songs, has largely synth arrangements which, while artfully constructed, sound
as if intended as guides; there’s some fine fiddling overlaid, and had overdubs
and replacements continued it would surely have been as great a gem as the folk
hymns album, where she’s beautifully accompanied by traditional instruments.
