I expected this to be a useful sampler of today's Latvian roots revival bands, alongside the well put together 2006 one from the Latvian Music Information Centre. But mostly it’s sadly uninspiring. (Out of tune playing or singing in a field recording may be just the way it was, the reality of the moment. But the same from an urban revival folk-rock band in the controlled environment of a studio, as here, is just cack-handed.) www.lauska.lv
