Norwegian gammaldans bands are usually functional, accordion-led and not very interesting, but this quintet – violin, accordion, piano, clarinet, guitar, bass - is in a different league. Beautiful, subtle, classy playing of memorable tunes, with a kind of elegant café-orchestra feel. CD1 is a decade of live cuts, including unusual choral contributions from Sommerro’s gammaldans mass, CD2 new studio tracks. www.overstokogsteen.com
