THEODOSII SPASSOV TRIO
The Fish Are Praying For Rain
Traditional Crossroads 80702-4298-2 (2000)
End-blown flute capable of some of the world’s most breathily magnificent music
becomes Bulgarian-rooted jazz tool. Hot, inventive multi-tradition playing, from
Spassov on kaval, vocal sounds and duduk, pianist Roumen Toskov and drummer
Hristo Yotzov, goes to interesting new places, but with only occasional glimpses
of that soaring kaval beauty.
