ARNE M. SØLVBERG
Nordfjordslåttar
Grappa GRCD 4118 (1996)
Jon Rosenlid and Samuel Bergset were Norway’s Nordfjord region’s most famous
fiddlers this century - Rosenlid moved to the USA, Bergset stayed home - and
changed its tradition by introducing the hardingfele from further south. Arne
Sølvberg (who made a fine album with guitarist Øyvind Lyslo in 1990), is from
the same village, Fjelli, played with both, is in turn Nordfjord’s finest, and
here plays their repertoire and his own tunes solo on hardingfele, fiddle and
occasional wooden whistle.
