SÅGSKÄRA
Krook
Drone DROCD 010 (1998)
Music played in the 18th century in the Värend district of south Sweden’s
Småland, taken from notebooks of the time and featuring principally “violins,
bagpipes, hautboys and drums” as described in 1749 by Samuel Krook, with vocals
mainly from Ulrika Gunnarsson and harpist Marie Länne-Persson. Sometimes a bit
early-music careful, but increases in vitality as it proceeds; Anders Svensson’s
fiddling is particularly notable. (www.drone.se)
