MARIANA SADOVSKA
Songs I Learned In Ukraine
Global Village 819 (2001)
Young Ukrainian singer, solo and occasionally vocally multi-tracked, accompanied
just by her hand-pumped harmonium, with a set of fine songs she’s learned over
the past ten years from women singers in the villages. Also involved in
Ukrainian and Polish new experimental theatre, she’s part of that impressive
genre’s bridging of the distance between deep living tradition and “high art”.
