Beautiful, story-rich Norwegian traditional dramatic ballads rendered, largely unaccompanied but with occasional minimal fiddle, moraharpa, guitar or banjo, by a very fine light-voiced young male singer with a quiet narrative authority and musicality reminiscent of, and at least the equal of, the most magnetic singers of the contiguous Scottish ballad tradition, and sometimes using kindred tune-forms. www.etniskmusikklubb.no
