Finland has a bit of a mandolin history, which Plektronite, like Helsinki Mandoliners before them, are re-energising. Jarmo Romppanen, Juha-Matti Kurra and Frigg’s Petri Prauda, a carved-top sound with three mandolins plus mandola, cittern and mandocello, playing Finnish trad and trad-form tunes in elegantly, swingily fluid counterpoint and harmony.
