In unison with touches of harmony and occasional solo lines, this vocal group of a dozen women, many in their seventies, recorded in 2003 in their home of Kuujärvi in the south of Russian Karelia, sing with spirit traditional songs in Ludian, a Finno-Ugrian language now spoken by just a few hundred people.
