Slovenie - Musiques Et Chants Populaires
Ocora C 600007 (1997)
However well one may subsequently get to know the music of a region, the
Ocora/Radio France compilation, if there is one, remains authoritative. They
don’t attempt a survey of commercially-recorded material, but raid the local
archives for the traditional blood and sinews. So it is for Slovenia. For a gem
of the old ways, try the interweaving women’s vocals of the Midsummer Day song
on track 10.
