Real and edgy, from Fonó’s Final Hour collecting project. Two heavy-vibratoed dancing fiddles, chugging 3-stringed viola and double bass; a gypsy ensemble, and a song, from two villages on Transylvania’s northern plain, where musical cultures of Hungarians, Romanians and Saxons have long mingled but rarely been recorded, until this classily book-packaged CD.
