Mateli
Kansanmusiikki-instituutti KICD 64 (1999)
Current and former Hedningarna singers in a much sparser context of their
voices, kanteles, jouhikko and moraharpa with powerful, prevailingly sad Finnish
lyrics collected from woman runo-singer Mateli Kuivalatar (1771-1846) set to
tunes by Matveinen, who’s from Mateli’s home district, Ilomantsi in Karelia.
