Forty-seven joiks, her own and others’, joiked in the traditional unaccompanied way by Marit, a Sámi from the Kautokeino area in the Norwegian part of Sámiland, who has won the annual Grand Prix Joik Contest in Kautokeino several times. She’s still a nomadic reindeer-herder, moving between the summer grazing land Beaskáðas and the southern winter pasture of Cuoikaeana. www.dat.net
