MARINA ROSSELL
Cap Al Cel
World Village 498003 (2002)
Catalan singer with something of the German cabaret or Edith Piaf
grande-chanteuse about her. With beautifully elegant arrangements including
piano, Spanish guitar, Portuguese guitar, accordion and subtle programmed
sounds, her songs, by a variety of authors, speak poetically of emigration, the
Catalan people, smuggling, religion. Full of character, class and a sense of
place.
