A useful overview, compiled by the Lauska ‘Culture Management Centre’ in Riga, of recent recordings by a good spread of today’s Latvian revival-folk bands, some pioneers from the 1980s or 90s, some from the new crop. Most mix roots research and traditional instrumentation with new developments, largely with a characteristic Latvian gentle approach. www.arcmusic.co.uk
