Kronos, ever-questing for fresh shapes in their string quartet music, add point and film-epic feel to Pohjonen’s accordion-looping compositions, sampled and manipulated by Kosminen’s electronics. The structuredness and tense humanity of the strings and dense, curling, crashing waves of accordion make this one of his most auditorily satisfying recent works.
