Ensemble Toive, a folk chorus with traditional instruments, from the Russian part of Karelia, performing 22 reki-songs, ballads and dance tunes from 1847-1920 collections made in Finnish-speaking Ingria and Karelia. Approaches vary from rough to elegant; considerable spirit and interest.
