KANIZSA CSILLAGAI
The Boyash Gypsies Of Hungary
ARC EUCD 1670 (2001)
5-piece of Wallachian and Boyash gypsies from Nagykaniza in south Hungary, with
the music played for their own entertainment by the Boyash, not cafe music. Male
and female vocals with tambura, guitar, milk-pitcher-bass and wooden spoons with
some guest accordion, fiddle and cimbalom. Unpretentious homey music-making
rather than dazzle.
