JAHIAR GROUP
Teheran

Orange World OWCD 003 (2001)

Afghan, Persian, Turkish, Hindi and Ukrainian urban popular trad songs from skilful Iranian/Tatar/Polish 5-piece - santur, accordion, guitar, bass, percussion - sounding hefty, real-thing middle-eastern rather than world-fusion, with strong vocals, mostly from Iranian-born santurist Jahiar Azim Irani, some from husky-voiced Polish singer Agnieska Sylwia Kolczewska.
