Invozho – Traditional Songs Of Udmurtia
Global Music Centre GMCD 0510 (2005)

The Udmurt people, linguistically Finno-Ugrian, live in the Udmurt Republic and other parts of the western Urals. Finland’s Global Music Centre continues its essential work documenting vulnerable living musical traditions little heard abroad, with these 1990s recordings of ten regional groups comprising mostly women in their sixties, whose singing is unornamented and largely unison.
