Good to hear mature female voices singing Finnish runolaulu, and these four do it well, in robust, natural grainy harmony and call-and-response with plenty of spirit and variation. Strong lyrical and melodic material too, from Karelia, Ingria and Mordva, featuring a mighty pig, giant bull defeated by tiny man from the sea, the origins of beer and the world.
