ILONA KORHONEN ENSEMBLE
Tarkka Pää, Tania Mieli
Ääniä AANIA-9 (2009)
16-member Finnish female vocal ensemble with trad-influenced compositions based
on the thousands of runo-song verses collected in the 20th century from Ingrian
Larin Paraske. Strongly sung, impressive arrangements and solos, in some ways a
parallel to the Bulgarian female folk choirs, but while the lyrics are
traditional the melodies and arrangements are all Korhonen’s.
