THE GURDJIEFF FOLK INSTRUMENTS ENSEMBLE
Music of Georges I. Gurdjieff
ECM 277 1913 (2011)
Much of Gurdjieff’s music is based on Armenian, Georgian, Russian, Turkish,
Greek, Kurdish and other traditions, but until now was rendered with classical
instrumentation. As he apparently had in mind, this Armenian ensemble plays it
on duduk, blul, kamancha, oud, qanun, santur, saz, dhol etc. Works well, even
though more arranged-careful than passionate.
