In Norway there’s a good deal of crossover between church and traditional music; not just the use of traditional tunes for hymns as in Britain, but the singing of hymns using and modified by traditional styles, usually as here solo unaccompanied. In recordings made in the 1950s, Fykse (1879-1963), of Fykse in Hardanger, sings texts from the 1910 Landstads Kirkesalmebog. www.talik.no
