The early-photo-studio style digipak portrait of Rolland holding his Hardanger fiddle suggests an archive recording, but he’s a present-day player, from Ulvik in Hardanger, here with 17 tunes from the repertoires of past or elder fiddlers including Anders Kjerland and Rolland’s Trio Hardanger colleague Knut Hamre. www.talik.no
