Gems, until now little heard abroad, from the living traditions of long-suffering Albania: melodically and rhythmically varied songs and instrumentals from master-singer Esat Ruka, recorded in Paris accompanying himself on the one-stringed lahutë, with other lutes - 2-string çifteli, multi-string sharki - the double whistle bilbil, and single and double-headed drums.
