ELIAS NARDI QUARTET featuring DIDIER FRANÇOIS
Orange Tree

Zone Di Musica ZDM 1006 (2010)

I emphatically recommend Belgian nyckelharpa player Didier François’s 2002 Swedish-oriented CD Falling Tree, and he’s done fine collaborations with Gabriel Yacoub. Here he provides the bowed strings with Italian Elias Nardi’s oud, joined by fretless bass and percussion. Nardi’s compositions are stronger on flavour than direction, but an elegant listen.
