DVERGMÅL
Visor Og Kvæde Frå Blåberglandet

Grappa GRCD 4121

Texts by 19thC Norwegian poet Ivar Aasen set to traditional tunes and sung by largely acapella group - four female voices, one male - with occasional langeleik, seljefløyte, jaws harp, hardingfele. Norway’s choral and folk traditions are much more linked than in Britain, and though these are in effect small-group choral arrangements the effect is of five folk singers combining rather than a stiff choir; attractive even to a choir-distruster.
