Slovak folk songs given efficient and rather likeable pop-rock treatment, with female vocals; sure, it has guitars and imposes rhythms and is less deep than more traditional treatments of Slovakia’s rich music, but it has memorable trad tunes, smart ideas, energy and confidence. A living tradition doesn’t thrive within a National Trust cordon, and a shot of folk-rock fun at the right moment can sometimes revitalise and propagate. www.druzina.info
