DIKANDA

Tylko Muzyka TCD 006 (2004)

Polish band with vocals from Ania Witczak, powerful but sensitive with a touch of huskiness, plus snappy violin, guitar, bass and percussion, doing material from Balkans and further east, and own trad-influenced compositions. Brooding 9-minute Ederlezi, while able, doesn’t stand out among other versions, but other tracks are fresher, and the band seems to go down well live.
