NIKOLAI BLAD
¿Missä Kävit?

Luoma LUOMACD4 (2004)

Blad is one of Finland’s most interesting and characterful songwriters, with a very distinctive “turtle voice”. Here, joined by a subtle band including fiddler Arto Järvelä, he turns his attention to tangos – his own and others’ – and it’s clear that in his intelligence, warmth and expressiveness resides the true essence of Finnish tango; Argentina-rooted it might have been, but now it’s a real Finnish folk musical and lyric form.
