Some manifestations of Christianity have opposed joik, as an aspect of Sámi religion, but Biret, in whose life both hymns and joiking are important, found that while joiking God was definitely taboo it was occasionally done anyway, and here she sings hymns and extends them in joik style, with Frode Fjellheim on keyboards. www.emcd.no
