Tunes from Småland in south Sweden aren’t at all like the lurching polskas from further north; they’re even, symmetrical, almost classical-sounding. Svensson’s masterly, rich-toned solo fiddling is influenced by nyckelharpa; he plays or implies a complete accompaniment by drawing ringing notes from the low strings.
